Hunting
In the United States, approximately 250,000 coyotes and 1,000 wolves were killed by human hunters in 1989.1

Trapping
In the United States, 197,234 coyotes; 86,734 red foxes; 51,354 gray foxes; 1353 gray wolves; 447 kit and swift foxes; and 190 Arctic foxes were killed and reported by trappers in 2002—many more may have been unreported.
