Mice and Rats

Experimentation
In the United States, an estimated 100,000,000 mice and rats are used in experiments each year. Since they are not protected by the Animal Welfare Act, the only federal law regulating the treatment of animals in research, they are subject to a variety of painful and meaningless experiments. They include xenotransplantation, neural implants, sleep deprivation, cosmetic testing, irradiation, and infection.
